The boys laughed when I told them to not get lost in the arctic tundra. But look. It looks like I should have polar bears wandering around my front yard. That is the top of our swing set between our house and the neighbor's. Only about a foot is still sticking out of the snow.
These are the trees across the road from our house.
This is Adam making the perfect snowball.
Josh tried to shovel the front walk, but with a foot of new snow, he didn't get far.
The boys love all the snow hills along the driveway. They built caves and made slides all the way.
Even Jake got in on the snow fun! His four legs made it a little more difficult to get to the top.
As you can see, we truly did have a snow day today!

Hello, my name is Estela, I live in MedellĂn, Colombia. Two weeks ago my father was kidnapped and the colombian police can do nothing about. The kidnappers sent us a message whit a photo of my father and asking for US$ 100,000.00 for rescue.
My family don´t have that amount of money. I thought if ten thousand people, of the billons in the world, donate only US$10 We can pay my father's rescue. If not, we could raise some money for the rescue.
Please help us to get my father back.
I opened a PayPal account for receive donations. This is the link:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=help%2eayuda%2ecolombia%40gmail%2ecom&item_name=HELP%20US%20PLEASE&amount=10%2e00&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&tax=0¤cy_code=USD&lc=US&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8
Tanks for your help.
Estela.
PD. Sorry about my english.
I opened a PayPal account, too, but all the donations go to Breyer's Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream for me. (And Estela, if you're not the hoaxster I think you are, then I deeply apologize for making fun of your comment.)
Anyway, I thought WE had a lot of snow till I saw these pictures! You could carve a series of secret tunnels through that snow! You could build a whole nother house out of that snow! You are a hair's breadth from having the sequel to "Alive" filmed in your backyard!
Ya know, the very same thing happened to me. My father was kidnapped by Bolivian drug lords and wanted $100,000 for his safe return.
We told them to just keep him. Eventually they ended up paying us $200,000 to take him back.
But what I really meant to say was, we did the same thing today, just played in the snow, dug more caves and tunnels, had a snowball fight, tried and failed to clear snow off the roof, and generally got very cold and wet.
It looks like a scene from Little House on the Prairie (minus the snowblower). Are you gonna make it out for school tomorrow? The best visual is your swing set. That's a whole boatload of snow.
What's this?! Estela's and Katrina's comments pop right up but I have to wait to be "approved"?! What kind of power trip are you on anyway?
Oh, yeah, another snow advisory just popped up. Do you think you'll be able to find your swing at all after this?
I know that this comment is late, so possibly it won't get read, but I thought that it was very coincidental that less than three hours ago I was explaining to one of my students that "nother" is not a word(as in "whole nother"). I really try to get out of my teacher edit mode when I am reading for pleasure, and I think that it is fine (maybe even necessary) when you are using the North Idaho vernacular for your voice. I just thought that it was funny that I had just recently edited out the word "nother". By the way, I understand why you wanted to "approve" Kathy's comment. You never know what she might say.
To me these photos are just sooooo magical.... but then I dont have to live with it week in week out :)

you must be in Spirit Lake! I didn't know there was anyplace but there with that much snow!!
Marci, I think your fixation on proper grammar is a whole nother issue and not really pertinent to the subject matter of this post.
Did you, Marci, happen to think, when reading and critiquing my comment, which was addressed, implicitly, to Estela and, subsequently, Jen, that matters of proper spelling, word construction, and punctuation, an area that includes, but is not limited to, commas and their use, or, as it happens here, overuse, are not particularly pertinent when viewed, considered, or pondered in the light of situations involving Colombian kidnappers?
I thought not.
;)
