...why not to leave a laundry basket of clean towels in the living room.
Your child will spill a bowl of chicken noodle soup into them while he's eating lunch.

Or your little brother will pick up the new kitten and squeeze too hard and the kind of excrement that only young kittens produce will shoot across the room and christen the towels. (This really happened when I was about nine years old.)
